Acquisition & R&D Intelligence ("Valley of Death")

to embrace innovation, the US Department of Defense has launched a business transformation initiative to meet the security challenges of the 21st Century. According to a recent Department of Defense Report to the Congress, there is disconnect between the DOD Science & Technology portfolio and the technology needs of the DOD Programs of Record. This phenomena, called the Valley of Death , results into the wasted research investments, unmet technology needs, immature technology insertion, and substantial increases in the Program development budget and time to the war fighters.
